Worksite dehydration is a common condition in Australia, especially during the summer months when temperatures can soar above 40 degrees but is a health concern all year round. Workers who spend extended periods working outdoors are particularly vulnerable to dehydration, which can have serious consequences for their health, and well-being, and can decrease their work performance and their cognitive function, resulting in other worksite accidents. I’ve been on the lookout for a healthy, hydrating option for my boys, who are both very active in sports. This product has been a gam changer! They love the flavours, and Im thrilled that it has zero sugar – A huge win for both my and them. As someone who isn’t a huge fan of plain water, I was delighted to find a product that offers great taste without the added sugar. it’s a perfect way to keep my kids hydrated after their games and practices without all the extra calories or sugar.

These drinks packets pair perfectly with the 16.9oz water bottles we hand out at the shop. When the heat index rises we stock these beside the coolers of water. The employees really appreciate them. I have had a few comments from the weight lifters that they do indeed help with muscle cramping so that was an added plus. We also pair them with the freeze pops which are a huge win as well! Highly recommend Sqwincher products!!

I bought these for long shifts at work and they’ve been a total game changer. The lemonade flavour is surprisingly good, not overly sweet or artificial tasint and it mixes easily into a standard water bottle without any clumping. I really like that it’s sugar free and low calorie, so I don’t feel guilty using them multiple times a day. They’ve helped me stay hydrated and avoid the headache and fatigue that usually hits mid-shift. Also great for the kids during sports practices or outdoor days since there’s no mess and they’re super portable.

  • My Sqwincher Qwik Stik has hardened, what should I do?

Sqwincher Qwik Stiks are a powdered product, powders are hygroscopic, meaning they attract and hold water molecules, which when absorbed can make the powder go hard. We recommend they be stored in a cool, dry environment, out of sunlight as they can sweat inside the packet. If stored outside of these conditions the powder may go hard, if this happens they are still fine to use they just need to be squeezed and broken up inside the sachets before being mixed in with water.
  • I have a Sqwincher product that has passed its Best Before Date, is it still safe to consume?

It is important to note that Sqwincher is a food product and not a medicinal product, therefore it falls under Food Standards Australia & New Zealand and BRC GLOBAL STANDARDS for FOOD SAFETY. Most foods have a best-before date (BBD). You can still eat foods for a while after the best-before date as they should be safe but they may have lost some quality. Foods that have a best-before date can legally be sold after that date provided the food is fit for human consumption*. *(Source: https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/consumer/labelling/dates/pages/default.aspx)
  • The Qwik Stik powder has gone hard, is this still ok to consume?

Sqwincher Qwik Stiks gets hard because it absorbs moisture. When Qwik Stiks absorbs moisture, the moisture bonds the powder together resulting in the hard texture. To reduce the chance of Qwik Stiks going hard, we recommend the product is stored in a cool and dry area. Should the Qwik Stiks become hard, the nutritional value & electrolytes are not impacted
  • What is dehydration?

Dehydration is defined as a 1% or greater loss of body mass as a result of fluid loss. The human body weight is made up of around 60% to 70% fluid. Dehydration occurs when the body is losing more fluids than being consumed, which causes the body to not perform maximally.
  • What are electrolytes?

Your body runs on electricity, whether it’s the neurons firing in your brain or the pumping of your heart. Electrolytes are chemicals that conduct electricity when dissolved in water. When they interact with other electrolytes and with cells, they keep the body’s small electric currents flowing. Not only does this help your body’s natural processes run smoothly, but it’s also essential for your survival. We use one word to describe them, but electrolytes are really a family of chemicals. There are different types, each providing a different charge, either positive or negative, to trigger a reaction in the body. In fact, you probably know a few of the most common ones already by their more familiar names; Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium.
  • How does dehydration effect workers?

Decline in productivity Heat injury or illness Urinary & Kidney problems Hypovolemic shock Seizure and loss of consciousness Decreased cognitive motor skills A 2015 study out of Loughborough University found that participants committed a significantly higher number of driving errors when they were dehydrated. Shockingly, their performance was just as poor as that of people who complete similar tests while at the legal blood alcohol content limit.
